Trans-Sped's electric truck is already navigating the streets of Debrecen

At Trans-Sped, we are constantly seeking and implementing solutions that make logistics more efficient and environmentally friendly. The logistics industry is a high-impact sector on the environment, so in the interest of sustainability, all participants in the supply chain must take steps to reduce these environmental effects.

Introduction of the electric truck

At Trans-Sped, we carry out our activities with a constant focus on prioritizing sustainable development and environmental protection. Our latest development is the introduction of electric drivetrains for operational use. The task at hand was to replace daily diesel-powered transportation between the factory and the warehouse with electric solutions in an urban environment.

For the electric drivetrain technology to be applicable, it requires a transport task within the range and a properly developed infrastructure. In urban traffic conditions, Euro 5 diesel tractors are unable to fully leverage the benefits offered by the technology.

The use of electric trucks currently available on the market requires many compromises, and they do not yet provide a fully sustainable solution for logistics companies. However, there are more practical alternatives, such as the option offered by Electromega, where factory diesel tractors are converted and equipped with electric drivetrains, specifically designed for urban and industrial applications. The converted vehicles are fully capable of handling our ongoing transport tasks, and the introduction of this technology is significantly more cost-effective than factory solutions. We will use the electric tractor to serve a daily round-trip transport task with a total distance of 95 km, which will help reduce 40,000 kg of CO2 and 6.3 kg of NOX emissions annually, making the city cleaner. Additionally, noise and particulate pollution will also decrease significantly.

Environmental benefits

With the introduction of the new environmentally friendly truck, we are able to reduce harmful emissions, as well as dust and noise pollution caused by transportation. The benefits of this will not only be enjoyed by the contracting parties but also by the wider community, including the residents of Debrecen.

What sustainable logistics means to us

Our company is at the forefront of applying the latest technological solutions in logistics. A significant portion of our warehouse rolling equipment is electric-powered, and our future goal is to achieve the highest level of automation and robotics in our warehouses, while continuously reducing emissions and increasing efficiency.

Additionally, we plan to install a solar panel system on the roofs of our warehouses, which will support our energy consumption with renewable sources. Since 2010, we have preferred air-to-air heat pump solutions for the construction of our own warehouse buildings, which utilize renewable energy sources to heat and cool the buildings.

We conduct our activities with a constant focus on prioritizing sustainable development and environmental protection. For instance, we operate a fleet of vehicles that has minimal environmental impact; the average age of our Euro 6 environmental standard vehicles is 1.5 years, which we maintain through continuous fleet renewal. This year, we acquired 37 new trucks.

At the end of 2021, we launched our ZERO service, which enables more environmentally friendly goods transportation. As part of the service, goods are delivered by Trans-Sped's own fleet, using lockable, reusable crates—completely free of packaging materials. This means that not only are cardboard boxes used for delivery eliminated, but also the waste from filler materials is removed from the online ordering and delivery process.
